In 1972 the first 3 arabian horses arrived at Slängsboda descending from Polish/English bloodlines. The first pure Polish lines were introduced in 1977 through the 2 mares Gomene (Bandos x Gomora) and Peonia (Czort x Penza), both bred and born at State Stud Janow Podlaski in Poland. They both produced excellent offspring at Slängsboda of which a number later were exported to the US. In Poland we found the beauty, wonderful disposition, strength and stamina we were looking for and the Polish bloodlines became the base of the Slängsboda breedingprogram. Frequent travels to Poland resulted in highly valued mares and stallions and all of them have played an important part in our past and present. Blommeröd Arabians in Sweden also contributed to our success through the wonderful mares Philippa (Pohaniec x Finisia) and Minerva (Algier x Mimikra).
One of our goals have been to preserve the characteristics of the Arabian horse, which resulted in highlight moments such as the Swedish Nationals in 1982 when the Janow Podlaski bred stallion Gokart (Partner x Gomora), leased and trained by Slängsboda and owned by Blommeröd Arabians, became Swedish National Champion Stallion. In 1987 the Janow Podlaski-owned Balon (Gwarny x Ballada), leased by Möllebacken stud, Blommeröd Arabians and Slängsboda, again gave us one of those moments! Exclusively trained and shown by Slängsboda Balon was named Swedish National Champion Stallion in tough competition.
It is with great joy we have watched our breeding Bernatka (Ernal x Basetla), earning the title of Best Swedish Bred Mare at the 1999 Swedish Nationals and producing halter champion get for her owner Q-Arabians.
Espmira (Ali Mir x Esperanzia), bred by Slängsboda, became, in the capable hands of her new owners at Ramonia Arabians, the dam of Brasilian National Champion stallion Almir (by Alt). Mystawa (Pohaniec x Mystika), a double Junior Halter Champion, bred and owned by Slängsboda, did very well in the Western Pleasure showring and she left us the filly Myrica (by El Amin) to continue the Minerva legacy.
Another goal has been to keep a high performance ability in all our horses. The foals are gently handled at a very early age and all are broke to ride at about 3 years of age.
Many of the Slängsboda horses have proved to be extremely capable under saddle such as the 2 Arabian Derby winning brothers Ceasar and Samir (Cedar x Samunira) at the racetrack, Audi (Fynd x Alladina), Fynd (RD Misha x Philippa) and Sahibb (Erystawi x Shimmy) in different Western classes and Poem (Gokart – Peonia) and Marsch (El Kisch PL – Melisa) in endurance, both competing in Dubai. The two Slängsboda bred mares Filga (Gokart x Philippa) and Gonina (Aladdinn – Gomene) have made themselves known through their progeny. Filga produced the fantastic rachorse and 4 times Darley winning Fryga, and Gonina produced the wellknown racehorse and Halter Champion Stallion AH Gallant. Others have achived ribbons in Three-Day-Eventing, Showjumping, Dressage and Pleasure Driving.
